Vintage Records

Alec and I love to listen to vintage records while relaxing at home. I was telling my Mother today about some awesome records I found at an estate sale and how I got two 101 strings records to add to our collection of those and she remembered the coolest thing! She said her parents walked into a hardware store in 60's and there was a 101 strings record playing on one of the old console stereos there and my grandfather loved the records so much he bought the player and the record. I never got to know him, and my grandmother passed away when I was 12 so it made me so happy to have this connection! Here are a few of the 101 strings that we own:





The best thing about these, other than how great they sound, is that you can usually find them for 99 cents at used books stores all of the time. Here's a sample of one of the tracks:

Willis - Word Up

We are getting closer and closer to our 1st wedding anniversary so I'm getting sentimental and nostalgic. The night we got engaged we were eating at a fancy restaurant in Chicago and this song came on. I asked our waiter what it was because it was the first song we heard (or paid attention to) after we got engaged and he wrote it down on a post it note for me. I never found it until now. I think it is hilarious that it is a cover of Cameo, but I like the way Willis covered the song.

Kings of Convenience New Album!

YAY! I'm so excited they have a new album out! Alec and I saw them live the 1st time we hung out together as friends way back in 2005. They put on a super fun live show.

It may seem like I'm a suddenly a music blog... but um... I'm just listening a lot while I study. A studying blog would be boring. This song makes me happy, and it seems like these stop motion videos are trendy these days, but the amount of work that has to go into them still impresses me every time.
